Deseret Peak and September 15-20

Sanpete Classic last week was an up and down meet for us, and it wasn't just the course. Some athletes ran very well, but several seemed unfocused and struggled a lot.  The meet was a great meet, great course, good competition, etc.., but we were a little off with our focus and preparation as a whole.  It is time to refocus and prepare for  Thursday.

This week we will head to the Deseret Peak Invitational in Tooele.  This is a new school and new meet, so we are not sure what to expect, but we will go and get after it.  The bus will leave at 1:50pm, so athletes will be excused at 1:05pm (9th) and 1:20pm (10-12).

We need a WAIVER for each athlete for the meet Thursday, for those who have not done so yet, make sure to bring those to Coach Barnes by Wednesday. 

Also, a lot of illness has been floating around and has hit the team pretty hard.  Please take care of your bodies and make sure you are doing your best not to get sick and not to pass it to others on the team.

Thanks to the the Bracken, Rane, Wright, and Navarro/Strong families for hosting last week's dinner.  Thanks to all those who brought or sent after race treats for the team, as well as those who made the drive to cheer and support at the meet in Fairview.

We will have a Team Dinner on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., hosted by the Haynie, Tarr, Cazier, and K. Anderson families, (14402 S. Herriman View Way). Athletes are encouraged to bring a couple of dollars to contribute.

Those interested in possibly going to Brooks XC Championships (replacing Foot Locker) in California December 4-7, we will be sending out a survey to the team and parents this week or the first of next week to see who would be able to come if we made a trip like that.
